Nedstat Counter

Play Dough: A Recipe from Mrs. Johnson's Files
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
2 cups water
2 tablespoons cooking oil
4 teaspoons cream of tartar
food coloring
Mix the flour, salt, and cream of tartar. Add water, oil, and food coloring. Cook over low to medium heat for 3-5 minutes. Keep stirring until the mixture forms a solid ball--it gets very stiff, so use a strong wooden spoon. Knead to a nice smoothness.
When it is cool completely, seal in plastic container (old frosting jars are nice) or ziploc bag. If you use a coffee can, place dough in plastic bags first.
This dough can be used over and over and will keep for at least a month.
It's nice to make red, yellow, and blue batches and allow only two at a time:
red and yellow
red and blue
yellow and blue
to allow them to continue to learn about the mixing of secondary colors from the three primaries (RYB). After they have used them for a while, let all three out at once, with the reminder of the horrible color they turn when mixed (they will).
